Autoimmune Conditions

Autoimmune disease: A systemic condition in which the body attacks healthy tissue/organ and can no longer distinguish between “self” and “other.”

Celiac Disease (about 1 out of 100 people)

Non-celiac gluten or wheat sensitivity is not an immune reaction

(Only a doctor can screen for & diagnose)

Immune response in the gut due to higher antibodies in blood
" One possible side effect is malabsorption, which can lead to other problems. .
For example:○ Lower bone density due to calcium malabsorption○ Anemia○ Vitamin deficiency

Many GI disease symptoms overlap.
For example, avoiding gluten/gliadin/wheat:

" Reduces/eliminates symptoms of celiac disease" Can help with other conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis .
.

Type 1 Diabetes

" Body immune system cells attack the pancreas, preventing it from producing insulin
" Inflammation of gut mucosa & altered microbiome – might be cause or effect
" Greater risk of developing disease with gut dysbiosis
.

The best health protocol that I use to support my clients in this conditions is: ." Eat a low-glycemic diet
" Include healthy fats, vegetables, fruits

" Be prepared with snacks/food throughout the day
 " Manage/reduce stress
" Track and record symptoms

As Health Coach, I encourage clients to bring concerns to their doctors, help them monitor their symptoms, make basic diet and lifestyle suggestions, and remember bio-individuality!!!
