ANDI SCORES

An ideal chart to have “handy” when considering the goodness of certain foods.

ANDI stands for “Aggregate Nutrient Density Index.” An ANDI score shows the nutrient density of a food on a scale from 1 to 1000 based on nutrient content. ANDI scores are calculated by evaluating an extensive range of micronutrients, including vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidant capacities.

ANDI Scores were developed by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, a physician that advocates whole food, plant-based diets for health and healing. The creator of the Nutritarian diet

Dr. Fuhrman devised the following simple formula:

H= N/C (Health = Nutrients/Calories)

I think its a very good way of thinking about food.

We always tend to think in calories, where the Andi score its based on how nutritious for us a food can be.

It doesn't surprise me that Kale is the #1 and that a cola is at the bottom of the list.

What do you think?
