TURMERIC

This week I'm preparing a lot of material for my Detox Workshop! So I'm going to bring you a lot of different foods and info about good things to incorporate when thinking about a detox.

Turmeric has been used in Ayurveda as a means to balance the doshas and support good digestion. Recently, it has become the topic of many research studies due to its significant benefits. Its in my top 3 of herbs and spices!

Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow color.


Benefits:

  • aids the IMMUNE SYSTEM, as it helps your body fight foreign invaders

  • strongly ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, in fact, it’s so powerful that it matches the effectiveness of some anti-inflammatory drugs.

  • aids in preventing diseases such as CANCER and ALZHEIMER.

  • Decreases overall inflammation in the body.

  • Aids in joint pain, as it is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

TIP:

  • turmeric can be mixed into a paste using coconut oil and black pepper for better absorption.

  • The turmeric root is a vibrant orange color – its pigment is so strong, it can even stain your fingers if handled directly! To make turmeric tea, peel the skin of the root and add to boiling water. Simmer for 10 minutes before straining and serving. you can add a drop of honey and ginger to spice it up.
